How Deptherm Works

The Deptherm Model 104 operates by being attached to your fishing line and lowered into the water. As the device descends, increasing pressure forces water into the tube, creating a water column that serves as a depth measurement. This column is calibrated in feet on the side of the tube, allowing for quick and accurate depth readings. Simultaneously, the built-in thermometer provides precise temperature measurements after the device remains submerged for 30 seconds. This dual functionality enables anglers to identify the ideal depth and temperature ranges where their target species are most likely to be found.

Applications

General Usage

Attach the Deptherm to your fishing line and let it sink to the desired depth or bottom. Hold the device in place for 30 seconds before retrieving it to the surface. Upon retrieval, read the depth on the calibrated side of the water column and check the temperature using the temperature plate. To reset the device, invert it, press the valve to release the water, and shake until all water is expelled.

Downrigger Monitoring

For anglers using downriggers, the Deptherm Model 104 can be clipped to your downrigger ball. This setup allows you to monitor water temperature and depth at the downrigger's location. When raising the downrigger for re-rigging, you can easily check the temperature and depth. Note that temperature readings may have a delayed reaction (1 to 2 minutes) due to the raising process.
