Returns & Refunds

At Life of Sailing, we accept returns or exchanges on physical products within 20 days of the purchase date, with some exclusions for special orders and clearance items, as noted. Subscriptions and digital products are not returnable or refundable. All returns must meet the following conditions:

General Terms for Returns

1. Condition of Items

  • Products must be returned in their original, resalable condition with all packaging, manuals, and accessories included.
  • Defective units may be exchanged for the same item only.

2. Return Authorization Number Required

  • All returns must include a Return Authorization Number (RA#)
  • To request an RA#, email us at customerservice@lifeofsailing.com. Be sure to print the RA# clearly on the shipping label to avoid delays in processing.
  • Returns sent without an RA# will not be accepted and may incur additional fees.

3. Restocking

A 15% restocking fee applies to:

  • Products returned without an RA#
  • Items not in their original, unopened condition.
  • This fee is in addition to any other applicable charges.

4. Inspection Process

  • All returned products undergo a thorough inspection, which may take 3–4 weeks after we receive the return.
  • Any missing or damaged components will result in deductions from the refund or credit.

5. Non-Returnable Items

  • Final sale items include memberships, software, electronic charts, and certain special orders.
  • Products installed or used cannot be returned unless defective and will only be exchanged for the same unit.

6. Manufacturer-Specific Returns

  • Certain products must be returned directly to the manufacturer.

Additional Conditions

Shipping Costs

  • Customers are responsible for all return shipping fees unless the return is due to a shipping error by Life of Sailing.
  • For orders with free shipping, the original shipping cost will be deducted from the refund unless the item is exchanged for a defective unit.

Lost or Damaged Shipments

  • Life of Sailing is not responsible for lost or damaged packages during return shipping.
  • We strongly recommend insuring your package and using a carrier that provides tracking.

Returns After RA# Issuance

  • Returns must arrive within 20 days of the original purchase date. Returns received after this period may incur a 15% fee.

Shipping Carrier Fees

  • Customers are responsible for any additional fees resulting from errors in shipping details (e.g., incorrect addresses, redirection fees).

Damaged Items or Shipment Issues

If your product arrives damaged or there are shipping-related issues, Email support@lifeofsailing.com with:

  • Your order number
  • Photos of the damage, including the shipping box

This will help us expedite the resolution process.

Important Notes

  • Writing on Packaging: Do not write on the manufacturer’s box. Items with altered packaging may be refused.
  • Typographical Errors: We are not responsible for errors in product descriptions, pricing, or photos on our website.
  • Exchange Returns: Products received in exchange for non-defective returns are final sale.
