Product Description
Sikaflex®-715 is a high-performance sealant engineered specifically for marine and boating applications. Its semi self-leveling properties ensure effective roof sealing, providing exceptional adhesion and UV resistance to withstand the harsh marine environment.
Features
- Primerless adhesion to challenging marine substrates
- Semi self-leveling for superior roof sealing on boats and marine structures
- Exceptional dispensing characteristics for precise application
- Isocyanate free, ensuring safer handling and application
- Low VOC content, meeting environmental standards
- Outstanding UV resistance, ideal for exposure to sunlight and harsh weather conditions
Usage
Sikaflex®-715 is ideal for sealing a wide range of marine roofing components, including:
- EPDM roofing membranes
- Metals such as anodized and bare aluminum
- Phosphate, chromate, and zinc-plated steel
- Metal primers and 2-part coatings
- Ceramics and plastics used in marine environments
Before applying Sikaflex®-715, consult with manufacturers and perform compatibility tests on original substrates, especially on materials prone to stress cracking. This product is intended for experienced marine professionals. Conduct adhesion and compatibility tests under actual marine conditions to ensure optimal performance.
Surface Preparation
Proper surface preparation is crucial for a durable bond. Ensure all surfaces are clean, dry, and free from grease, oil, and dust. For repairs, remove all pre-existing sealing products to prevent compatibility issues. The specific surface treatment will depend on the nature of the marine substrates, making thorough preparation essential for long-lasting adhesion.
Application
Sikaflex®-715 can be applied in temperatures ranging from 5 °C to 40 °C (41 °F to 104 °F). However, optimal performance is achieved between 15 °C and 25 °C (59 °F to 77 °F). The sealant can be dispensed using manual, pneumatic, or electrically driven piston guns, as well as pump equipment, providing versatility for various marine sealing tasks.
Removal
Before curing, Sikaflex®-715 can be removed from tools and equipment using Sika® Remover-208 or another suitable solvent. Once cured, removal must be done mechanically. It is important to wash hands and exposed skin immediately with an appropriate industrial hand cleaner and water after handling. Do not apply solvents directly to the skin.
Overpainting
Sikaflex®-715 is not designed for overpainting and should not be painted over.
