Advanced Compass Technology

The SSC300 integrates a micromachined 3-axis rate gyro with a 3-axis accelerometer, processed through sophisticated stabilization algorithms. This combination ensures precise and reliable heading information at a rate of ten updates per second, along with accurate vessel attitude readings, including pitch and roll, once per second. The compass maintains better than 0.7° heading accuracy in dynamic conditions with up to 45° of roll and pitch, and better than 1° accuracy in static conditions. These features make the SSC300 an ideal heading sensor for autopilot and radar overlay applications.

Seamless Connectivity

Certified to the NMEA 2000 network standard and compatible with the NMEA 0183 digital interface, the SSC300 offers versatile connectivity options. It can be directly connected to any NMEA 2000 network and, with the optional NMEA 0183 cable accessory, interfaces effortlessly with navigational software, chart plotters, autopilots, and dedicated instrument displays. This includes integration with Maretron’s own systems such as the N2KView vessel monitoring system and the DSM150/DSM250 color graphics displays.

Precision Calibration and Enhanced Accuracy

Each SSC300 unit is factory calibrated to ensure maximum accuracy right out of the box. The compass can also be automatically calibrated for deviation, ensuring consistent performance over time. Advanced digital filtering of the 3-axis magnetometer, accelerometer, and rate gyro further enhances dynamic accuracy, providing stable and reliable readings even in challenging marine environments with hard turns or rough seas.
