Product Description
Product Description
The FM4800 VHF Radio is an essential communication tool for any marine vessel, combining advanced features like AIS, GPS, and a powerful loudhailer to ensure safety and connectivity on the water. Designed for versatility and ease of installation, the FM4800 integrates seamlessly with various boat types, enhancing your marine communication setup.
Advanced Marine VHF Radiotelephone
The FM4800 is a cutting-edge marine VHF radiotelephone equipped with built-in Class D DSC, a GPS Receiver, AIS Receiver, and a Simplified Loud Hailer with intercom functionality. Its compact design allows for installation in diverse vessels, including those with limited space such as center-console boats. The unit offers flexible mounting options, including lightweight desktop or overhead brackets and flush mounting for a streamlined look. Its aesthetic matches other Furuno equipment like the NavNet TZtouch2, NavPilot 711C, and FI70 Instrument series, ensuring a cohesive appearance at your helm.
Integrated GPS, DSC & AIS Capabilities
Featuring a built-in GPS receiver, the FM4800 eliminates the need for an external GPS source to activate its DSC functionality. It can also serve as a backup GPS positioning source for other onboard electronics. The integrated AIS Receiver allows you to overlay AIS targets with networked GPS plotters or MFDs, such as NavNet TZtouch, NavNet TZtouch2, or GP1871F/GP1971F combo units, enhancing situational awareness and navigational safety.
Seamless NMEA2000 Integration
The FM4800 can share its GPS, DSC, and AIS data through NMEA0183 or NMEA2000 connections. When connected to a NavNet TZtouch2 MFD via NMEA2000, you can initiate DSC calls directly from the MFD by tapping on the AIS/DSC target and selecting [DSC Call]. In case of a Man Overboard (MOB) situation, activating MOB on the TZtouch2 MFD allows the FM4800 to enter a special mode, enabling a distress call with a simple push of the rotary knob.
Enhanced Communication Features
The FM4800 operates as a simplified Loud Hailer with intercom capabilities, offering eight alert sound patterns. These features include Loud Hailer, Fog Horn, and Warning Signal, which are crucial for onboard safety and communication during low visibility conditions. When paired with the optional second-station handset, the unit supports intercom communications between devices, ensuring clear and efficient communication across different areas of the vessel.
Listen Back Functionality
The Listen Back feature allows the horn speaker to capture external sounds and transmit them through the built-in speaker. This is particularly useful for communication between the deck and the bridge, making it ideal for fishing vessels and workboats. Additionally, on sport fishing vessels, the Listen Back function can detect sounds from fishing rods and lines when a fish strike occurs, enhancing your fishing experience.
