How It Works

The oil pressure gauge operates by sending a low amperage current through its meter to the ground via a sending unit with variable resistance. Changes in engine oil pressure, temperature, and other factors cause the resistance of the sending unit to fluctuate. As the resistance varies, the current flow changes, resulting in the meter deflecting to indicate the current oil pressure accurately.
