How It Works

The OLAS system operates by maintaining a virtual tether between the OLAS Tag and your smartphone or tablet. When this tether breaks, indicating that the tag may have gone overboard, the following sequence occurs:

1. The OLAS mobile app detects the loss of connection within 8 seconds.
2. An audible alarm sounds on the connected device to alert the crew.
3. The app records the latitude and longitude of the incident using the device’s GPS.
4. Visual signals and bearing data are provided to guide the crew back to the MOB location.
5. All location data and incident times are stored for rescue services.

For solo boaters, activating Solo Mode on the OLAS app (requires a 2G phone signal) ensures that emergency contacts receive SMS alerts with GPS coordinates if separation occurs.
